My grandmother, Jean Fletcher, spent summers at the ranch from the 1920s until her grand uncle Charles Lester sold it in 1933. I have never been to Estes Park, but heard about it through her, for whom those summers were the most treasured of her childhood memories.
Years later, she owned horse farms in Connecticut where I played throughout my childhood. The first lesson of the stable being never to walk behind a horse.
